How the BrdcastScanner is Initialized

The device-independent scan task initialization is outlined in Device-Independent Scan Task Initialization§. The initialization is performed on startup of the scan task. The following initialization is specific to the BrdcastScanner:

• reads in debug device and opens file pointer to it.
• opens a socket connection to the specified IP address (see hostname) and port number (see service name).
• sets the socket option for the maximum number of network hops allowed (see ttl).
